Quick Installation Guide

Remove All Protective Parts

Completely remove all orange clips, plastic covers, and the seal strip from each cartridge.

Do Not Touch the Gold Chip

Handle by the sides only. Fingerprint oils can prevent your printer from reading the chip.

Insert Cartridge Firmly

Slide into the correct color slot and push until you hear or feel it click into place.

Print a Test Page

Close the cover and print a test page: Settings → Reports → Print Quality Page.

⚠ Most Common Mistake Make absolutely sure all orange clips, plastic parts, and the seal strip are completely removed before inserting each cartridge. This is the #1 cause of errors.

Error Messages & Troubleshooting

ℹ Important – Please Read First None of the error messages below mean that the toner is defective. They indicate that your printer's firmware is configured to work exclusively with original HP cartridges. These are firmware restrictions, not product defects.

!Non-HP Chip Detected

"Non-HP Chip Detected"

Appears when the printer firmware detects a non-HP manufactured chip, often after a firmware update. This is a firmware policy restriction.

✦ What has worked for other customers:

Transferring the chip from the original HP cartridge onto the compatible toner, or disabling the HP Cartridge Policy in the printer settings (see Settings section below).

!Cartridge Not Recognized

"Cartridge Not Recognized" / "Insert Cartridge"

The printer does not detect the cartridge in the slot. This is usually a seating or contact issue.

✔ How to fix this:

Remove the cartridge and firmly reinsert it until it clicks. Clean the gold chip contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth. Verify that all orange protective clips and seal strips were completely removed. Try reinserting 2–3 times if needed.

!Supply Memory Error10.00.12 / 10.01.12

"Supply Memory Error" / Codes 10.00.12 – 10.03.12

Indicates a communication failure between the printer and the cartridge chip.

✔ How to fix this:

Remove the cartridge, clean the chip and the metal contacts inside the printer with a dry, lint-free cloth, then firmly reinsert the cartridge.

In some cases, customers replaced the chip or transferred a chip from an original HP cartridge.

!Incompatible Cartridge

"Incompatible Cartridge"

Often appears after an HP firmware update that has blocked previously working third-party chips.

Disabling automatic firmware updates to prevent future blocks, and transferring the chip from an original HP cartridge onto the compatible toner. See the Settings section below.

💡 Disabling auto firmware updates prevents HP from pushing new restrictions to your printer.

iNon-Original Cartridge

"Used or Counterfeit Cartridge Detected" / "Non-Original Cartridge"

This is merely an informational message. It does not prevent printing.

✔ How to fix this:

Simply press "OK", "Continue", or "Confirm" on the printer display and continue printing normally. This is just a notification.

!Cartridge Almost Empty

"Cartridge Almost Empty" / Exclamation Mark Warning

Occurs when a chip from an old original HP cartridge is reused – the printer stored the old chip's status as empty. Your cartridge is actually full.

✔ How to fix this:

Press "Continue" or "OK" on the printer display to dismiss the warning. The cartridge is full – the chip simply carries the old status.

!Supply Problem

"Supply Problem"

Most commonly caused by remaining orange protective packaging that was not fully removed.

✔ How to fix this:

Remove the cartridge and carefully inspect it. Ensure that all orange clips, plastic parts, and the seal strip were completely removed. Reinsert firmly until it clicks.
